Pair of Wood Carved African Busts (West Indies)

Interesting pair of African busts as im not sure if its a man and a woman or two women or even some early kind of tribal recognition of transgenderism. But you may be wondering about the lines across their features. This is because they have been carved from rosewood of which there are a few, this one is probably Bocote wood which would indicate that this pair may have originated from the West Indies, although there are similar rosewoods to be found on the African continent too.
