Large Hand Carved Māori Teko Teko Plant Stand / Ashtray

This large wooden Teko Teko, originally crafted as an ashtray, could just as easily work as a unique plinth or plant stand. The interior surface is slightly uneven, so you might want to level it out if you’re placing something flat inside, but that’s part of its handmade charm. Traditionally, Teko Teko figures are carved wooden guardians in Māori culture, often placed on the gables of meeting houses to ward off evil spirits. They represent ancestors or gods, known for their fierce, protective expressions.
