Shortland Brothers SB Barometer set in Cumbrian Sea Green Slate

This heavy wedge of Cumbrian sea green slate has been machined to accommodate a Shortland Brothers (SB) barometer that has a brass surround. And the bottom of the slate has been covered with green velvet to protect your tops from abrasion.

Made in England this barometer is compensated to give an accurate reading of the atmospheric pressure wherever it is placed and has a hand-set pointer which can be aligned with the barometer’s pointer for reference, it has a screw at the back so you can set it to correspond with your local Met Office readings.

In my opinion, it’s a pretty timeless piece of functional decor. The face dials font and winged SB logo design gives it both an art deco and mid-century feel. It’s one of my favourites! In excellent condition and working order.
