This stunning piece of Aztec art comes from Teotihuacan in Mexico and has been sculptured from clay with an axe and spear head made from obsidian at either end. The man wearing the headdress is an Aztec jaguar warrior, who were an elite military unit within the Aztec army and represented the god of the night sky. The use of the rattle was to summon spirits to help the warrior. Unique and in excellent condition, the obsidian is sharp, and the red eyes of the jaguar headdress are rhinestone.
