This magnificent timber framed print is titled “Shooting Break” and is an illustrative adaptation by Renato Casaro of a photo taken in 1932 titled “Lunch atop a Skyscraper“. The original photo was of eleven men eating lunch while sitting on a girder above the streets of New York during the construction of Rockefellers new skyscraper, the RCA Building in Manhattan.
Description
Casaro, who is famous for many handpainted movie posters, has replaced the workers with stars, from left to right: King Kong, Clark Gable (It Happened One Night), Charlie Chaplin (His Tramp character), John Wayne (The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance), Humphrey Bogart (The Maltese Falcon), Marilyn Monroe (Generic, but inspired by The Seven Year Itch), Elvis, James Dean (Rebel without a Cause), Steve McQueen (Bullet), Edward G Robinson and Johnny Weismuller (Tarzan).
